Hollins Mill "Marple Sheets" samples
A sample / off-cut of a "Marple Sheet" produced at Hollins Mill with original packaging / paperwork.
A small off-cut sample of a "Marple Sheet" produced at Hollins Mill with two loose embroidered tags, probably from other sheets. Also includes original paper packaging label and guarantee form, which includes the following text:
MARPLE SHEETS are manufactured from extra strong quality American cotton with the same number of threads woven both lengthways and across the cloth. This thread-count equality of warp and weft gives even and balanced cloth strength—ensuring years of service without showing signs of wear. The technical standards of spinning, weaving, bleaching, and dyeing (for the Vat dyed range) are unexcelled anywhere in the world. All sizes and descriptions quoted are exact, not approximate.
MARPLE SHEETS are fully guaranteed to give satisfactory service under normal wear conditions for a minimum period of 5 years.
A Pair of "Marple Sheets" and a sample of calico, donated by Pat Heap ( nee Mason) March 2023. Housed in the Book Cabinet to avoid mildew.
Her parents had a grocer's shop on Hollins Lane (now opposite the entrance to Asda Supermarket Car Park)
