Title

Nathaniel Wright Wills dated 1819

Description

Photocopy of original will of Nathaniel Wright. Will dated 1819 with typed transcript.
Also photocopy of original will of Nathaniel Wright. Will dated 1819 and proved at London. Donated by Ann Hearle & Neil Mullineux when researching new Brabyns Book for MLHS.

There are two wills (a) signed 29 Nov 1817, died 16 Jul 1818, probate issued 7 Nov 1818 and (b) signed 29 Nov 1817, proved London 22 Feb 1819. It has been suggested that a possible reason for this may be that the word "Werneth" was omitted from the first page of the first will, necessitating a second copy of the will to be written in which the word is included.
Among his bequests were mourning rings for 18 of his friends and acquaintances, a monument in the church in memory of his wife and himself, pecuniary gifts to Sunday Schools, his servants, colliery employees, etc. To his son, John, for whom he made provision during his minority until aged 24, he gave all his messuages, dwelling houses, tenements, lands. rents, collieries, lime works, etc. and £5000 of stock to be invested in Government securities. In the event of John's death, Nathaniel Wright's niece, Ann Hudson was to inherit.
