Correspondence with Maurice Whitehead of Hull University 1988 into the Booth family history 1732 - 1785 USA. Research material includes family trees, a transcribed letter (July 1789) and associated documents.
Bartholomew Booth Senior was schoolmaster at Mellor School in 1713. Booth Junior was born in Mellor, attended Oxford University after Manchester Grammar School and became ordained priest at Disley (1758). Taught in Derby, Liverpool and Essex before leaving for Maryland, where he established an academy in 1779 which attracted the sons of many Revolutionaries.
