Information from a letter regarding the origin of the use by Agatha Christie of the name 'Marple' in some of her books, which was brought by Matthew Prichard, her grandson, when he visited Marple at the invitation of Marple Local History Society, to take part in the 150th anniversary of Marple station in 2015.

Email correspondence in 2022 between Neil Mullineux and The Christie Archive Trust which includes a photocopy of a letter dated 11 Aug 1968 addressed to Mrs McMurphy in Agatha Christie's handwriting. In it she explains that while staying with her sister in Cheshire they went to a sale at Marple Hall "the beautiful old manor belonging to the Bradshaws" and "wanting a name for my 'old maid' charcter I called her Jane Marple".
