Various original newspaper articles, copies and six pages of typed transcripts of newspaper articles relating to the Marple Area. 

Subjects of post-1960 articles include:

• proposed boundary changes, Marple Post Nov 1969
• visit of Russian radio ham to Marple, Stockport messenger 22 Sep 1989
• evolving design of telephone kiosk, Mail on Saturday Oct 7 1989

Older items include:

• two hand-written index card copies of items from Glossop Record dated 25 Jul 1868 and 1 Aug 1868 giving an account of 4s theft from cash-drawer of Horseshoe Inn, Marple, and subsequent court case at which defendant  sentenced to month's hard labour.   
• six pages of typed transcripts of articles from Stockport Advertiser and Cheshire Daily Echo relating to the Marple Area, dating from 1826 - 1907. Reports of court cases, thefts, assaults,  milk aduteration, emigration, property and equipment sales, bicycle accident, canal rescue and Brabyns' Hall burglary.
